The unit, Motion Graphics for Television focuses on generating specific skills involved in the creation of animated titles, program trailers, cinematic sequences, and TV commercials. Students will be introduced to colour correction for television, synchronised moving type elements, special effects, and industry formats and resolutions.

Students will need to learn about the visual communication, the relationship between words and images and how they work hand in hand through the exploration of different graphic elements. Students will also need to create different layout compositions and utilise words and images.

Students will explore the application of two dimensional and three dimensional type designs and the influence of colour on typography design. Students will also be taught that affect readability and visual appeal.

Students will explore and learn essential terminologies and meanings of typography such as kerning, leading, san serif, serif, fonts, typeface family, weight, condensed, columns grids, widows, justification styles etc. They will also learn essential type usage such as type legibility and elements distinguishing such as how type affects the audience( hierarchy of type faces).Learners will need to be able to recognise what is required for successful typographic design.Students will explore the different types of typography for a range of various designs and applications– such as, corporate logotypes, display signs, posters, editorial layout, packaging, branding, and information graphics.
