Like all French institutes and 143 French cultural centers around the world, the French Institute of Egypt is an institution under the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that is responsible for promoting audiovisual and intellectual cultural cooperation between professionals, valuing the French contemporary art and French for all audiences, and presenting the French higher education to foreign students and teachers while providing a comprehensive teaching of the French language.
