Overview
This course describes the general approach to health risk assessment, including the role of atmospheric monitoring, selection of the appropriate equipment to measure specific airborne contaminants and devising a suitable sampling strategy.
Objectives
To provide attendees with an understanding of the techniques for assessing exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace and with an understanding of how exposure information can be used to assess risk.
Attendees will also be able to present the results in a form that would be useful for health risk assessment purposes which will enable management to comply with relevant legislations.

Personnel managing workplace safety and health, workplace safety and health professionals, and consultants and professionals who are involved in the management of hazardous substances.

Course Assessment
Attendees are assessed with a 40-question short answer open-book written examination with an allowed time of 120 minutes at the conclusion of the course.
Certification
Attendees will be awarded a Certificate of Successful Course Completion in 'Measurement of Hazardous Substances'.
This course is a core module for the International Occupational Hygiene Certificate and an accredited course by the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS).
Pre-requisite and Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN)
Whilst there is no pre-requisite for this course, it is recommended that attendee is certified with the Fundamentals of Occupational Hygiene (W201) certification. Ideally, a WPLN Level 5 or equivalent IELTS 5-6 would be recommended to ensure quality comprehension of the subject ; Updated on 15 March, 2019
