Visual Merchandising 2 London College of Fashion

This two day course has been designed as a follow on from VM1, and looks at current display and visual merchandising trends in retail and how to recreate these key looks for your store or brand. The course will focus on understanding the brands 'signature', using display to reinforce the brand message, which products to choose for your windows from your range and why, and how to create visual impact with window displays. You will also understand what visual merchandising trends and techniques you should be using for your market and customer, and why.

On day one you will spend the afternoon with Lucy London the tutor, in Dubai Mall, understanding what the trends are in visual merchandising and how different brands are using these techniques to display products effectively. You will be analysing the retail environment of many brands, and start to understand what messages the brands are trying to convey to their customers through their displays, and how they are getting their customers to make that all important purchase.

The second day will be recreating some of the looks you have seen, with the opportunity to try dressing the mannequin, back in the classroom. Demonstrations will be given on key looks, styling and how to position product on the stand. One of the hardest things to achieve for growing visual merchandisers is to make the garments look realistic on a form and still be appropriate for the brand.
