Course details

The study of structure of body and their parts is known as anatomy. It covers many important aspects of biology such as: endocrine system, nervous system, circulatory system, skeletal system, digestive system, cells and tissues etc.

Massage therapists should have comprehensive understanding of anatomy as it is important to know the muscular system as well as for the better understanding of massage effects on body. Awareness of insertions or origins of muscles to skeleton makes it possible for the massage therapist to treat their client properly. Many clients come to the massage therapist for the pain they know nothing about, so it is very necessary for the therapist to have knowledge of anatomy courses. If a therapist has knowledge of anatomy then he/she can customise the massage to specific needs and work on all areas related to their specific problem.

The study of molecules, cells and organs interact to form a whole being is known as physiology. Its study is essential to the development of new treatments for diseases. The word physiology is derived from ancient Greek word ‘physic’ meaning ‘origin or nature’. It is the study of function in living systems.  The study of Physiology is important to the practice of massage because it reveals the micro cosmos that exist within the human body.

A Massage Therapist can’t assist in restoration of the energetic balance of someone if he or she isn’t aware of his/her own connection & imbalances to the things in & around them. The Understanding of the occurrences of imbalances with-in the physiology enables a massage therapist to make the holistic connect needed to restore balance & harmony to their clients and the environment where they live through their increased awareness.
