THE PROBLEM:

A. Some people use mental (linguistic) rules to deliberately mis-communicate information. They hide things from us so they are in control of the conversation, the situation or the information and knowledge.

B. However, there are some people who have no idea, that they aren't communicating the whole picture to those around them. They unconsciously mis-communicate.

C. We also mis-communicate with ourselves. Our internal dialogue can be negative unhelpful and limiting.

Any mis-communication often causes pain, issues and a whole host of problems can arise due to mis-understanding or just not getting the whole picture when we interact with people, or indeed with ourselves.

THE SOLUTION:

When we are on the receiving end of an interaction, we need to ensure communication is clear and that we understand the other person fully.

A. When dealing with 'deliberate mis-communicators':

  1. We ought to challenge these types of people.
  2. This helps us to empower ourselves.
  3. It often helps to empower other people as well.

B. When dealing with those who 'unconsciously mis-communicate':

  1. We can challenge these types of people.
  2. This helps us to empower them.
  3. It often helps to empower ourselves and other people as well.

C. When dealing with ourselves and our own internal dialogue':

  1. We can pay attention to our own language patterns and change them.
  2. This helps us to empower ourselves and become more positive and successful.
  3. It often helps when other people have someone positive around them.

So we are protected from the deliberate mis-communicators and we can interact more effectively with those people who unconsciously or unintentionally don't provide us with the full story during an interaction. We also have more respect for our own inner voice and become more empowered through our positive internal dialogue.

Being able to identify this communication and to use the Meta model to recover, clarify and specify information is key a communication skill.

WHAT HUMANS DO WHEN THEY SPEAK

Humans by their nature, will leave information out of conversations. They will distort information and people also  generalise what they say.

We may have half an idea of what is going on …but I know as well as you do, that you really need to get a full picture of what any communication is about and …what that interaction means to us.
