Course details

Each year thousands of new immigrant students enter into classrooms in the public school system.  Teachers in public schools are overwhelmed by this influx of ELL students.  In some school districts this can be high as a 400% increase.  To compensate, many school districts require teachers to be ELL licensed.

This course is to help prepare a teacher or college student for that licensing exam.  This course gives the basics of the course plus six practice exams, vocabulary terms, grammar, cultural lessons, assessment information in order for the student teacher to be able to pass the exam with ease.

This course is structured into six different parts where the students will learn different areas of ELL training.  At the end of most sections practice tests will be given to see how well the information has been received.  At the end of the course the practice tests allow the students to understand how well they are doing towards the exam.

Enrolled students should have the basic understanding of the English language and terminology of grammar.  This course should take at the minimum of two weeks to complete.  Completing the course sooner may result in the student overlooking key information.

Students looking to be licensed or for a requirement for graduation for graduate and post graduate degrees this course is important as it describes the key vocabulary, terminology, IPA, places of articulation and other aspects of ELL learning.

Each course has PowerPoint lectures that can be paused which allows notes to be taken for better retention of the materials.  No other materials is required other than internet to do further research on topics the student may feel they need additional practice.
