Course details

Continuing on from our highly successful evening Portfolio Preparation Course, LSAD is now offering an intensive two week summer course. This course is designed for students who are interested in studying Art & Design at 3rd level. This can include beginners, secondary school students wishing to apply for Art college in the future, mature students or students who have already completed the initial portfolio course

Entry Requirement

  • There are no formal academic entry requirements. This programme is specifically designed for those with an interest in pursuing art professionally or as a hobby.

Examinations

  • Continuous evaluation will take place during the programme with final evaluation on completion of the programme.

Course Content

Areas covered on the programme will include:

  • accurate observation and recording of source material
  • translating three dimensional form into marks on two dimensional surfaces, creating the illusion of space and form
  • analysing source material in terms of line, tone, texture, shape and colour, with as wide a variety of materials as possible
  • life drawing, where students will work directly from a life model
  • Sketchbooks will be introduced on day one and students will be encouraged to develop sketchbook work throughout the programme

Students will be taught on an inpidual basis and the course will be tailored to suit each student’s existing knowledge and experience.
