- Types of Abuse - Introduction, topics to be covered, categories of abuse, physical abuse, emotional/ psychological abuse, sexual abuse, neglect and acts of omission, financial abuse, discriminatory abuse, institutional abuse, the story.
- Responding to a Disclosure - Introduction, topics to be covered, how a concern may come to your attention, how to respond to a disclosure, why adults often don't disclose information, what to do next, whistleblowing.
- Reporting Your Concerns - Introduction, topics to be covered, your responsibilities, why some people don't take action, who to report to, what if the report isn't taken seriously, what if the concerns are about a professional? when to report a concern, what needs reporting? check existing records, what happens next? recording information.
- What Happens After a Referral - Introduction, topics to be covered, adult social care's decision, what to do if you don't agree with the decision, strategy discussions, the case conference, protection plans, reviewing the plan, discontinuing the plan, congratulations! further reading.
By the end of the course learners will be able to demonstrate that they can:
- Understand the types of adults that are often referred to as vulnerable.
- Discover the importance of safeguarding vulnerable adults.
- Develop your ability to recognise the potential signs of abuse and neglect.
- Identify the different types of abuse and what you can do to prevent them.
- Explore the appropriate responses to an adult's disclosure and the steps you should take next.
- Learn how to report your concerns to the correct people to ensure the correct action is done.
At the end of the course, there will be an online assessment, which you will need to pass to complete the course. Answers are marked automatically, allowing you to know straight away whether you have passed. If you haven't, there's no limit on the number of times you can take the final exam. All this is included in the one-time fee you paid for the course itself
