Optimum Reservoir Characterization&Reservoir Rock Typing

Two days course will cover the following items in order to learn:

• Factors controlling reservoir heterogeneity and reservoir characters.
• Petrographic elements controlling the reservoir fluid flow and capacity (reservoir petrofacies).
• Sedimentary processes and sedimentology factors discriminate the reservoir rock typing.
• Core description and petrographic analysis to address these factors.
• Porosity-permeability relationships to create regression equations for these petrofacies in the cored wells.
• ANN to define the petrofacies in the un-cored wells.

Day 1 contents:
• Petrography and sedimentology factors controlling the reservoir rock typing
✓ We will define the elements control the reservoir rock to conduit fluid.
✓ What are the facies and facies analysis and how can get benefits in RRT and reservoir characterization?
✓ Texture and compositional maturity of the rocks
✓ The sedimentary processes and sedimentology to define the reservoir heterogeneity for optimum reservoir discrimination.
✓ Core description and defining the petrographic elements controlling RRT.
✓ Sedimentology and petrology interpretation from cores and ditch cutting.
✓ Exercises and workshop

Day 2 Contents
✓ Routine core analysis Data QC for optimum RRT.
✓ Create regression equations for the interpreted petrofacies.
✓ Using modified Kozeny-Carmen relationship for hydraulic units’ prediction.
✓ Techlog workshop to apply the equation in the cored intervals and prediction in the un-cored wells. Updated on 14 April, 2025
