Looking to keep tabs of your children's activities on your home computers and the internet? Or maybe you are just curious on how to make home computer safer for kids?
This course is the perfect stop point for you to learn how to protect children on the computer. It is designed to teach parents and other children caretakers how to take total control of the way your children use Windows PCs and other Microsoft devices such as Xbox and Windows Phone.
The course is broken down into five sections of 17 video lectures and hands-on demonstration:
In Section One, I will take you through the course introduction, covering course requirements and what you should expect from taking the course.
In Section Two, you will have a practical demonstration on how to set up the Microsoft Family Safety program on your Windows 7 Computers, including installation process and user account set up.
In Section Three, we will cover setting up the safety program on your Windows 8 computer, to fill in gaps for those who work on this operating system. I will also point out what is different about Windows 8 from Windows 7 in terms of the Microsoft Family Safety program.
Then in Section Four, you will learn how to actually make Family Safety work for you and your family. You will acquire hands-on learning on:
- Setting up Website filters for kids so that they are limited to accessing only particular websites on the PCs
- Adding restrictions to games and applications installed on the computer. You will learn how to make your kids play only Child-friendly games on the PC, and Windows Store.
- Restricting the number of hours your children have access to the PC on weekends and on weekdays. You will learn how to set curfews and allocate time slots for PC use
- Receiving and reviewing weekly reports on the total activity of your children on the web and PC.
In Section Five, we will conclude the course with a brief talk on the setbacks of the Windows Family Safety program, go over a review of the material learned during the course and leave you with final thoughts.
This course makes use of step-by-step procedures you can follow to set up a complete Microsoft Family Safety system on Windows 7 or Windows 8.
