Course Overview

Students who wish to build a specialist grounding in key aspects of accounting and financial management alongside the professional and practical skills needed by senior managers in today’s fast-moving global business environment

Unlike a traditional university environment, the University of Essex degree courses utilise a Virtual Learning Environment. The system is designed to track and manage the learning process in real-time and provides you with immediate access to your learning materials wherever you are.
This learning platform allows both students and tutors to actively take part in real-time conversations and you can listen to, and view, live lectures and seminars over the internet. Studying is carried out entirely online and the programme of study can fit around your work and personal commitments.
The students are supported throughout their MBA course by a dedicated Student Adviser and have the opportunity to regularly interact with fellow students and their tutor.

Students will learn the skills required for strategic leadership, risk management advice and support and service delivery. Furthermore, students will also develop your experience of financial modelling, business planning and producing and presenting detailed reports. The course balances a theoretical approach with the practical application of practice-based learning as you extend your interest in financial decision making and business strategy.

Target Audience

Working professionals who have a Bachelors degree in a relevant or appropriate subject, as well as at least three years of relevant professional work experience.
If you do not possess an undergraduate degree at all, you will need to have at least five years of relevant managerial experience

Entry requirements: 

• All MBA applications will be considered on their individual merits and assessed by the academic team, taking into account professional status and work experience as well as academic achievements.
• Applicants normally have a Bachelors degree in a relevant or appropriate subject, or the equivalent from an internationally recognised institution, as well as at least three years of relevant professional work experience.
• If you do not possess an undergraduate degree at all, you will need to have at least five years of relevant managerial experience.
• If English is not your first language, then we require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
