Relief printing has a long history and many artists and illustrators have turned to linoleum (instead of the traditional wood or metal), as a medium which provides ease of use and a strong graphic image. The poster, likewise has been traditionally used as a popular medium that is able to reach a very large audience.
In this course, students will choose a cultural figure, along with a quote from that figure to combine both text and image in a poster format. Starting with smaller assignments (one in text or calligraphy, the other in rendering) to hone their skills, students will then move on to a final print that combines elements of both.
