Slash is one of the most ferocious and recognizable players of moderntimes. This is true not just because of his look, but also because ofhis timeless and melodic playing style, driving riffs, his songwritingabilities, and his uncanny knack for melody.

His playing often draws from his influences of bluesy licks and riffs of the classic rock era of the early to mid 1970s. Slash has stated that his influences include Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page,and Angus Young.

Slashs lead guitar style is a mix of melodic blues-rock phrasing, fast legato, pedal tones, palm muting, mixing minor and major pentatonics, and heavy doses of the wah pedal. Slash has the abilities to go from all out fast ferocious playing to soulful, melodic, bluesy playing. All this is seasoned with his own greasy, gritty, nasty, organic quality.
