Language for Fashion Business

Course details

This practical, intensive language course will improve your communication skills in both spoken and written English, the language of the global fashion industry. In addition to your communication and pronunciation skills, you will improve your grammar and vocabulary knowledge for the use of English in business and fashion contexts, with a strong focus on using the correct style of language.

The course includes many practical activities and communication tasks that develop your language skills, with extensive personal feedback, correction and advice from your tutor.

By the end of the course, you will be able to express your ideas more effectively, have written a personal professional blog, and given an oral presentation. You will receive a video of your final presentation.

The course will include:

• Appropriate and consistent style in writing and speaking 
  
• Presentation skills, with a focus on the delivery (fluency, pronunciation and clarity) and the structure of a talk 
  
• Key vocabulary for fashion business 
  
• Blog posting and web posting - formal and informal 
  
• Financial language, developing your range, accuracy and fluency  
  
• The language for justifying and explaining your opinions, ideas and designs 
  
• The language for talking about future plans and intentions for your ideas and designs 
  
• Advanced sentence structure for clear professional writing. 
  
• You will be required to prepare two short pre-course tasks (one in writing and one in speaking) before the course begins. 
  

Suitable for:

You should have an interest in fashion business and a desire to improve your spoken and written English language skills. The minimum level of English required is upper intermediate (CEFR B2 / Cambridge First Certificate or IELTS 6.5 equivalent - you don't need these qualifications, but your English should be at this level). If you are unsure that you meet the language requirements, please contact language-.uk and we will send you a test. No previous experience of working in the fashion industry is required.  

Certificate:

All students who fully participate in all session of the course will receive a 'Certificate of Short Course Attendance' from London College of Fashion
