Course Content

The course consists of eight units covering a range of Health and Safety topics including: A general approach to managing safely understanding why incidents involving injury or damage occur applying management principles to Health and Safety problems.

Course Aims

To provide as introduction for managers and supervisors on how to manage Health and Safety in the work place.

Certification

An IOSH certificate will be awarded to candidates who successfully complete the examination and practical assessment.

IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) Managing Safely

It is also recognized by all parties that time can be erode both knowledge and skill. To overcome this, IOSH are now recommending that delegates who took the full IOSH Managing Safely course within the last three years should sit one-day re-certification course prior to the end of their three- year period. IOSH are recommending that those who took the full course more than three years age undertake the full four-year course.

Objectives

At the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Apply basic management principles and practices to health and safety issues as part of a total business strategy.
  • Set practical health and safety objectives, plan and implement course of action to achieve those objectives.
  • Recognize safety and health hazards present in the workplace.
  • Ensure adequate information, training and supervision is provided.
  • Investigate incidents and take remedial action.
  • Understand and implement their legal responsibilities.
