Target Audience:

Mid- to senior-level officials from ministries and agencies involved in country competitiveness or SME/ entrepreneurship development programmes.

Qualification:

Participants should be involved in the development of competitiveness strategies and policies at the national level.

Language:

The workshop is conducted in English with simultaneous interpretation into Arabic.

Course Description:

This workshop is conducted by experienced OECD staff and international experts and covers broadcompetitiveness indicators, but also pecific issues related to competitiveness. It uses competitivenessrankings, theory and case studies based on the experiences of the OECD, ts members, and participantsin the training. The workshop discusses instruments, methodologies and best practices for twokey aspects, nvestment attraction and enterprise support: the investment component will focus oninvestment policy options and investment facilitation tools, uch as economic zones and sector targeting,while the SME and entrepreneurship component will consider policies to support high-growth MEshighlighting specific tools to promote innovative firms and business linkages with multinationals toimprove competitiveness and roductivity of local SMEs.It is expected that participants will acquire a general understanding of ways to improve competitiveness,namely their nvestment policy frameworks, and firsthand knowledge of tools and institutions whichare most useful to facilitate investment, as well as arious policy options to support the domesticprivate sector, in particular SMEs and start-ups.
