Overview:

This course is designed to teach network professionals the skills required to understand and implement technologies and components found in the UMTS networks. Topics covered include packet core components and their role in the UMTS network, detailed information on standardized technologies that are implemented on the Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN) and Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN), as well as their interaction with authentication, charging, and billing components in the network of the mobile operator. Students will also learn how these components are implemented and configured on the Cisco ASR 5000 Series system. At the end of the course, you should have increased your skill level and developed a thorough understanding of the UMTS packet core.

• Describe and understand GPRS and UMTS architecture fundamentals, including GSM and RF, as well as packet core components and operations
• Implement a Cisco SGSN solution and configure SGSN features
• Implement a Cisco GGSN solution and configure GGSN features
• Describe and configure the tunneling features that are available on the Cisco GGSN
• Describe and configure Cisco ASR 5000 Series inline services
