    This diploma course is designed to equip students with professional competence in the area of Hair and Advanced Make-Up application.

    It provides the underpinning knowledge and skills to perform in all areas of cutting, styling, colouring and perming hair, as well as advanced techniques to work in all areas of Fashion Theatre, Media and Special Effects Make-Up.

    Course Content:

    Hairdressing Module:

    • Working in Hairdressing
    • Health & Safety
    • Client Consultation
    • Shampoo & Conditioning
    • Precision Cutting
    • Style & Dress Hair
    • Colour Hair
    • Perm & Neutralise Hair
    • Scalp Massage

    Module 1: Make-Up

    • Anatomy and Physiology to include the bones and muscles of cranium and face.
    • Skin including structure, function and skin conditions.
    • Application of Make-Up to include recognition and understanding of Lighting, Skin Tones, Face Shapes, Corrective/Contouring Techniques.
    • Students will learn Day, Evening and Bridal Make-up. CaseStudies/Portfolio Work
    • Professional Conduct and Business Awareness. Cosmetic Science.

    Module 2: Fashion, Theatre and Media

    • Principles of colour
    • Working as a Make-Up Artist
    • Fashion and TV/Film Make-Up Application
    • Application of False Eyelashes
    • Historical Period Make-up and Hairstyling
    • theatrical and Character Make-Up
    • Case Studies/Portfolio Work.

    Module 3: Special Effects

    • Application of Various Casualty Effects
    • Use of Bald Caps
    • Application of False Hair
    • Use of Wax, Putty and Latex
    • Case Studies/Portfolio Work
