When learning how to manage your own investments.  It is important to experiment, as well as, learn in an environment that allows you to practice without anything at risk.   This can be done by paper trading, also knows as virtual trading. 

Today Paper Trading is done on a platform that validates that the trade you entered would indeed be accepted if it was backed by money.
