English Learning Expectations
In AMI, we ensure that at the end of each Level, trainees should be able to:
- Communicate about themselves and their daily activities
- Work as a group to better increase their English proficiency
- Improve their intercultural and interpersonal communication, through modern technologies and internet-social networking with friends, family, colleagues, etc.
- Read, analyse, and synthesise information from simple texts such as newspaper articles, magazines, etc.
- Write business and official letters
- Contextualize the grammar and language skills they learn to improve language retention
- Use their English communication skills in their various working and social environments
Teaching Techniques
Our English programme will use a modern Communicative-Based Teaching (CBT) style of learning that encourages the use of natural and contemporary English. We use instructional materials and tools to train communicative and cultural competence. We also use modern study materials like books, CDs, audio-visuals, as well as internet based technologies that are stimulating and relevant, specially designed for each Level. Our aim is to help the trainees develop key skills in the correct use ofEnglish for reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
English Courses Activities
Since our courses are designed specifically for each level and our utmost importance is to ensure that individual needs are guaranteed; we apply the following modes of Assessment and Activities:
- Quizzes
- Class oral discussions
- Take-home assignments
- Class individual or group presentations
- Role-plays
- Internet-based studies
- Dictations / spelling checks
- Graphic organisers
- Vocabulary strategies
Course Assessment
Prospective Trainees are advised to undergo English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Placement Examination. This would help the Trainees' assess their level of English competence. This General English Placement Examination also helps AMI meet each individual needs and interest for learning English at their respective levels.
Course Schedule
AMI's English Courses shall run over a continuous period of time. The teaching mode is intensive with an emphasis on trainees' practice. Classes are available six (6) times a week, with each group meeting thrice a week. However, for special cases, schedule can be adjusted where necessary.
Certification & Accreditation
Upon successfully passing the assessments and examinations, outstanding trainees will receive ourPrestigious AL MOALEM INSTITUTE ACHIEVEMENT CERTIFICATE pertaining to completed course level. Also, we are proud to state that we are accredited with LCCI International Qualification for EDI to offer the above listed Courses. All our Course structures and content are in line with LCCI regulations. All trainees, excluding Foundation Level have equal opportunities to register for LCCI Examinations and receive their certificate after they have completed their respective Course levels.
