This course exploresthe basic features of device to web, and device to cloudcommunication using yourAmazons AWS IoT free tier account. In this coursewe will program inexpensive, WiFi enabledembedded devices, like the ESP8266, ESP32,TI 3200, and Raspberry Pi 3. We will take advantage of free "Internetof Things" (IoT) prototyping platforms, like Mongoose OS inJavaScript, and Zernyth in Python to program our inexpensive devices. The course continues on withprogramming our embedded devices to send data from the deviceto the AWS cloud. Totransmit our data we will use the built in MQTT broker on our devices firmware, sending JSON encoded sensor data, to the AWS IoT console. From within the IoT console we will explore many of the built inAWS IoT enabledservices thatare integrated from the IoT console on theAWS cloud. Creating rules-based actions to AWS serviceswe will send, store, file, manipulate, graph and analyze our sensordata through a variety of important AWS applications. Some of theseintegrated applications, using these rule-based actions, are Dynamo Database, S3, SNS, Lambda Actions,Data Pipeline, AWS Glue, and AWS Quicksight.
IoT is largely thefusion of devices and the web, specifically the cloud. All sendingand recording data, ubiquitously and continually, everywhere. Understanding and being able to prototype andimplementan end-to-end,device tocloud path communication is a much in demand career skill.
