Content and Overview

Suitable for intermediate English learners, looking to add specialized words to their vocabulary, this course of 24 lectures covers three of the most popular American sports: Baseball, American Football, and Basketball. Each section ends with a quiz, that challenges you to watch video clips of iconic sports plays, and practice discussing them using your own words. 

Each section begins with an introduction that explains the history of the sport. You will learn how the sport is organized, and how it has come to be such an important part of American Culture. 

The first step is to learn the specialized vocabulary you will need to share in conversations. After watching these lectures you will feel comfortable using terms like "umpire," "tackle," and "alley-oop." We will also discuss common verbs, as well as their past tenses. Along the way you will find PDF worksheets, which you can refer to for future lectures. 

Once you feel confident with your English vocabulary, you will be ready to learn the basic rules of each sport. Understand the objectives of both the offensive, and defensive teams, as well as key strategy.
