Course details

The aim of this course is to provide the participants with the knowledge and group leadership skills to lead teams in effective Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) studies and HAZOP studies. HAZOP is an abbreviated term for HAZard and OPerability study. It is a technique that identifies the potential hazards and operating issues with the design and construction of equipment and plant and involves the interaction of a multi-disciplinary team. Upon the successful completion of this course, participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of the concepts of PHA and of the major techniques for hazardidentification and when each should be used.
  • Gain an understanding of the responsibilities involved in PHA leadership and training in the skills necessary for leading PHA studies.
  • To be familiar with HAZOP Techniques.
  • To act as a Team Leader of a HAZOP Team.
  • To be able to carry out HAZOP Studies.

Gain knowledge to describe the need for change and change management as well as effective methods for dealing with changes.

Pre-Requisites

  • Experience in process operations
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to communicate in English (both oral and written)
  • Effective writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
