The united Nations Development Program in partnership with the Lebanese government launched their joint “Disaster Risk Management” Project. This project aims to strength the coordination and management capacities of the Lebanese government in Disaster Risk Reduction including disaster response.
One of the main activities of the project is to raise awareness among the different population groups on Disaster Risk Reduction and to promote preparedness and prevention. Drill exercises represent a straightforward steps towards enhancing students’ and teachers’ preparedness for a potential disaster, and eventually reducing mortality in universities.
UNDP in collaboration with Lebanese Army, the Civil Defence and Lebanese Red Cross is in the process of organizing a series of drills in different universities in Lebanon. The drills will be covering the following topics: a) search and rescue, b) evacuation, and c) first aid.
