    The grounding provided by this course will form a solid foundation for the students when they join the Tourism & Hospitality Industry.

    It is designed to encourage students to participate fully in the training by way of a six-month build-in Industrial Attachment component.

    * GCE 'O' levels with a pass in English or equivalent.
    * Applicants without English proficiency must pass Addison Institute's English proficiency placement test prior to admission.
    * Other equivalent qualifications deemed suitable by Addison Institute.

    Program Synopsis

    Business Computing

    This module provides students with an understanding of the basic computer hardware and its functions. The module covers MS-Office packages such as Words, Spreadsheet, Power Point and Access.

    Business English

    The module provides students with a clear overview of the effective usage of English in the field of business communication.
    Upon completion of the module students would have covered key areas like effective letters and notices, layout of letters and rules and ways to communicate effectively in business.

    Introduction to Business Operations

    This module is to provide students with an understanding of how business as a whole function. An overview of the nature of business would enhance the students' ability to understand management theory.
    It covers key areas like Principle of Management, Organization Structure, Communication, Leadership, Staff Development and the Business Market Environment.

    Hospitality Finance

    The objective(s) of this module is to provide the students with an understanding of the interrelated topics of F&B Costing and Accommodation Products and the Hotel's control systems that ensure both the raw materials and revenue are safe guarded.
    Upon completion of the module, students will have a sound knowledge of costing, purchasing and control of goods, calculation of profit, cost percentage and pricing.

    Introduction to Tourism & Hospitality

    This module provides students with an overview of the Tourism & Hospitality Industry by examining the different sectors within the Industry.
    It covers the relationship between Tourism and Hospitality from the management perspective and future challenges.

    Leisure Management

    As Leisure Management is very broad base, the focus of this module is to provide students with a sound grounding on the topic of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE); and prepared them to meet the eve r changing needs of this segment of the Hospitality Industry. This is a very resilient segment of the Industry as people still find a need for face-to-face meetings.
    At the end of the module students will have a clear understanding of Meetings, Expositions, Events and Convention business.

    Operations for Tourism & Hospitality

    This module describes the operational aspect of the Tourism & Hospitality stakeholders, namely the travel agents, tour operators, front staff of hotels and foodservice operations.
    The collaboration between them will enhance customer satisfaction and providing quality services.

    Marketing for Tourism & Hospitality Management

    This module provides students with an understanding of Marketing from a Tourism & Hospitality perspective. It structured marketing activities into BEFORE,DURING & AFTER the customers' experience of the service encounter.
    Upon completion of the module, students would have covered the key areas of Marketing Concepts, Pre-encounter, Encounter, Post-encounter and the Marketing Plan.

    Assessments and Award

    * Every module is assessed by a final written examination, written assignments and class participations.

    * For practical modules, students are assessed based on performance in project works, diissertation and presentations.

    * Upon passing exam for minimum 8 Modules, Addison Institute will award Diploma in Tourism & Hospitality Management.
