Content
The programme is delivered over four modules: The Management Process; Health Policy and Planning; Managing Resources and Human Resource Management. Content and workshops are designed to be relevant and practical and cover core areas of management competency including:
  • planning and managing resources
  • assuring high standards
  • being a leader
  • creating team spirit
  • creating the service of the future
  • influencing people and events
  • Accreditation
The IPA is a recognised college of University College Dublin (UCD). From 2011, any student entering an accredited IPA Programme will graduate with a UCD award. The IPA and UCD are part of the wider National University of Ireland (NUI) network. The Diploma in Healthcare Management is at Level 6 (Special Purpose Award) on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). 
Progression
Students of the Diploma in Healthcare Management who gain a merit or distinction will be admitted to the third year of the Institute's Bachelor of Arts (Healthcare Management) programme should they wish to continue their studies in Healthcare Management.
Assessment 
There are four elements of assessment for this programme.
  • An individual written assignment at the end of each module
  • Continuous assessment through discussion and class presentations on completion of each module
  • Action learning project as part of a team, on completion of the programme
  • Final examination at the end of Year Two
