Course details

With environmental concerns such as global warming and the depletion of fossil fuels, the pursuit of alternative clean and green energy sources has become extremely urgent and vital today. This course presents you an opportunity to be part of this global effort to save the earth.

In Singapore, the government has identified the Clean Energy industry as a strategic economic growth area, and the nation-state has implemented a comprehensive blueprint to grow the industry and transform Singapore into a global clean energy hub. Some of the measures include improving energy efficiency levels by 35% from 2005 levels by 2030, cutting carbon emissions by up to 16% below "Business As Usual" levels by 2020, and greening 80% of all buildings by 2030.

This course covers 4 key areas, namely fundamentals in electronics, clean energy technologies (including solar cells, fuel cells, wind, biomass and hydro), smart energy systems and energy efficiency, audit and management. With the Clean Energy Research Centre, the Class 100 Cleanroom and the newly setup Energy System Laboratory, you can look forward to exciting state-of-the-art and industry relevant learning facilities.

You will also have opportunities to gain global exposure to advanced clean energy technologies through internship programmes at overseas institutions, such as UNSW. Students with passion for the environment can also look forward to meaningful Overseas Community Project trips to countries such as Thailand and Cambodia where they can apply what they have learnt in Solar PV technology to light up the villages.

With the accreditation to Singapore Certified Energy Manager (SCEM, Associate-level) program, the course additionally equips you with industry recognized training and practical development in energy auditing works, installations, measurements and instrumentations. This comes in handy with the Energy Conservation Act 2013 which requires big users of electricity to engage energy managers to monitor and report energy use to National Environment Agency (NEA).

TP is also the host of the Clean Energy Testbedding Commununity (CETC) which is a joint initiative between TP and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board. This gives you an unlimited opportunity to put what you learn to good use and develop your understanding of the industry on a professional level.

If you are keen to be one of the pioneers in the Clean Energy industry, this diploma is the best place to kick start your career.
