Course details
The Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Skills & Practice takes places. This course is designed to give students a real insight into the area of counselling in addition to developing foundation level skills in the discipline. The course is highly interactive and successful participants will develop basic counselling skills such as active listening and empathy that will benefit anyone’s personal or professional life. The programme is accredited by HETAC.
Those who complete the Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Skills & Practice have the option, through successful application and interview, to continue on to the ICHAS BA Degree in Counselling Skills and Psychotherapy Studies.
Assessment within the Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Skills & Practice has three key components – a taped interview of a practice counselling session, commentary on this session and an essay.
The programme is intended as a foundation level introduction to counselling skills and practice. Most people will benefit from the insight and development of the key skills covered by this course, which can be applied both personally and professionally.
Those who successfully complete the Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Skills & Practice may apply to progress to any of the Level 7 BA programmes in the field of Counselling Skills & Psychotherapy Studies, Counselling Skills & Addiction Studies or Counselling Skills and Youth Studies either within ICHAS or other colleges.
