AIM:

To upgrade the skills and knowledge of person’s in the Renewable Energy Industry so that they can register with SEAI as well as to provide the required level of knowledge to person’s entering the Renewable Energy Industry.

OBJECTIVES:

The programme will provide an extensive insight into Biomass Energy Systems and will prepare candidates for the end of programme examinations leading to recommendation to FETAC for certification and subsequent Registration with Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland as a Qualified Installer.

  • Module 1 Introduction & Basic Information
  • Module 2 Characterisation of Wood Fuels & Fundamentals of Biomass Combustion
  • Module 3 Biomass Combustion – Technology & Plant Components
  • Module 4 Layout of Biomass Combustion Plants
  • Module 5 Economic Analysis of Biomass Heat Generation Systems
  • Module 6 Legislative Requirements
  • Module 7 Literature

TRAINEE PROFILE: Candidates with Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Craft – Plumbing or equivalent. Practitioners with a background in related fields of technology and a number of years experience may also be considered. GID certificate or equivalent. OFTEC 101, 105e & 600a certified to ISO 17024.

CERTIFICATION: FETAC Level 6 Successful candidates will receive a certificate acceptable to SEAI for Installer registration

About Midland Energy Training & Assessment Centre METAC

METAC Training is the largest energy training and assessment centre in Ireland and the UK  and trains approximately 2,700 people annually. Their realistic training facilities equip people with practical skills for the modern workforce that are nationally recognised by FAS/SOLAS, FETAC/QQI, City & Guilds, UKAS, Bord Gais and OFTEC, amongst others. All cTheirses They run are independently certified and verified by external agencies.

In September 2010, They invested and installed a 16 metre 6KW wind turbine and accompanying Photovoltaic systems at Their centre which was supported and grant aided by Laois Partnership Ltd. making us the first and only training centre to do so. This facility now allows us to expand Their renewable energy training to incorporate wind training.

On completion of Their cTheirses all participants are equipped with practical skills that are nationally recognised by FAS/SOLAS, Bord Gais, City & Guilds and OFTEC.
