Course details
This course was designed in 2003 by Sensei Chris Pellitteri to teach the most popular of all martial arts weapons: the NUNCHAKU!
We start with a single pair of nunchaku and learn the basics of blocking and striking through a series of "sets" designed to increase your nunchaku skills.
This course starts with the beginning techniques that are required for 9th Kyu (pronounced "Q") meaning "student level". 9th Kyu is also the first belt rank - white belt with a yellow stripe. 9th Kyu consists of 4 sets - 2 Blocking sets - 1 striking set and a spin set.
The next part of the beginning course is all of the requirements for 8th Kyu (yellow belt). 8th kyu consists of 4 additional sets (1 punch set - and 3 striking sets) and 1 basic "kata" (form)
The 3rd part of the course contains all of the requirements for 7th kyu (yellow belt with orange stripe). 7th Kyu consists of 4 additional sets (2 spin set and 2 strike sets) and an additional kata.
With the completion of this course, students will have an understanding of basic nunchaku strikes, spins and blocks.
The course is designed to be easy to learn with a very intuitive learning progression. Instead of the demonstration of random skills and techniques, it is designed to easy to remember with each skill and rank building on the last one.
The course is designed for beginners to advanced students. If you have never picked up a pair of nunchaku before, you will start to gain the skills required to become an expert. If you have trained before, I am confident you will fill in gaps in your knowledge with this course.
This first course contains all of the information previously in the North American Nunchaku Association's DVD series Volume 1 and Volume 2.
