This training course will allow you to gain a grounded understanding of the central presuppositions, ideologies and core principles that underpin Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), in a way that is easy to understand, practical and useful.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is an excellent life skill for people of all backgrounds and professions to tap into, both at home and at work. Based on the most tried and tested scientific research, CBT has a proven track record of helping people to better understand themselves from the inside-out.
This complete introduction to Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) will help you to better understand how CBT works, by including a range of interesting CBT exercises that you can try for yourself (or with other people). Once practised and mastered, many people recognise that they already use CBT principles in virtually all aspects of their life.

This course offers the opportunity to gain an understanding of basic CBT skills and to begin to use these to enhance existing clinical practice. Participants will gain a greater understanding of the emotional reactions to physical illness and the role CBT can have in reducing distress, anxiety and depression. Training will involve a combination of didactic teaching, experiential learning, demonstration and discussion.
Unlike some forms of CBT training, which require practitioners to have a vast knowledge of specialist protocols, this course looks at the person as a whole (rather than as a symptom) and teaches a model that is practically applicable to a broad range of emotional and behavioural based problems.
While this course does include a standard teaching approach, appropriate for studying personal experience as understood in CBT theory and practice, the teaching is less about the dissemination of facts, and more about developing an understanding of people, relationships, and the ineffable mysteries of the human psyche.
