Advanced Certificate in Childcare and Education

Course details

In addition to the usual modules required to gain the level 5 and 6 awards we have also included a number of additional modules and subjects to enhance the whole learning experience for our students.

The Advanced Certificate in Childcare and Education will be delivered over a one year period.

Successful candidates from this course can choose to work at supervisory level in the early setting, work in specialist areas with children with additional needs or to access higher education programmes.

Work Experience

Work experience forms a vital part of this course. Two days per week the student will gain experience working in a range of carefully chosen childcare settings in which they will observe good and excellent practice. Over the year the students will undertake approximately 60 work experience days.

Work experience abroad

Every year a number of our students have the opportunity to undertake a three week placement in Sweden or Holland which have excellent childcare facilities.

Progression and Career Prospects

Possible career pathways following successful completion of this course:

• Childcare practitioner in early years setting (progression to supervisory role very quickly)
• Childcare Practitioner in community based projects.

Inchicore College has developed links with Institutes of Technology to support our students who wish to progress to Higher Education. Students are eligible to apply for advanced entry.
