This short course concentrates on the history and extent of this phenomenon in the residential and agricultural areas in Kuwait, defining the sources which caused the problem. An understanding of evapotranspiration, rainfall, runoff, groundwater recharge, groundwater abstraction, groundwater storage, groundwater movement processes, and their roles in controlling this problem by presenting the applied solutions from different ministries and authorities in controlling and solving this problem.
Objectives
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Describe and define the extent of the problem in the residential and agricultural areas, and the causes of this problem
- Explain the different hydrogeological processes affecting and controlling the problem
- Present the proposed and applied solutions to control and elevate the impacts of the problem, and their advantages and limitations
Participants
It is expected that the participants will be from governmental ministries such as Ministry of Electricity and Water, Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources. Public Authority for Housing Welfare, Ministry of Public Work, Public Authority of Industry, Environmental Public Authority, Kuwait University, Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, and the Oil sector.
