The course will introduce the fundamental Sonography theory, including terminology and equipment. It will provide a study of the clinical applications of Abdominal Sonography, including positioning and scanning protocol. The course will have a strong hands-on component spending several of practice. Anatomical structures will include, Abdominal Vasculature, Liver, Gallbladder & Biliary System, Pancreas, Spleen and Kidneys. Specific pathology and clinical symptomatology will be covered as they relate to the sonographic appearance of these structures. Interpretation and critique of normal and abnormal anatomy with a clinical correlation and image information will be presented. 

 Lectures will focus in the above mentioned aspects as well as on how to collect patient information relevant to the different ultrasound studies, and how to correlate with the sonographic findings. This course provides a fundamental theory and hands-on to the doctor to understand and to start practicing an abdominal ultrasound examination.
