Hello, my name is Chiara and I'll be your teacher for this Italian course. This course is aimed at beginners, more precisely at people that are at A1 level of the CEFR - Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Whether you're planning to visit Italy, or you're interested in learning Italian from scratch, this course is for you:

In it you're going to learn:

• how to pronounce and read Italian
• basic Italian grammar;
• basic Italian vocabulary;

You're also going to learn some simple and useful sentences to help you survive in Italy like:

• how to greet someone
• how to ask "what time is it?"
• how to order in a bar-café
• how to ask for the price
• how to ask for directions, and so on.

With the exception of the first unit, that's about the alphabet, all the other units are made up of three sections:

• In the first you'll find a video explanation about grammar or vocabulary
• In the second you'll have the opportunity to put theory into practice with interactive exercises
• Finally, in the third, you'll find a complete didactic unit, specifically designed to help you hone your Italian reading, writing and listening skills. This unit aims both at strengthen your knowledge of the topics explained in the video lessons and at progressively introduce you to new vocabulary and grammar. The unit is in pdf form, so you can either complete it directly from your computer or print it.

By the end of this course you'll be able to:

• Read and pronounce Italian
• Introduce yourself and others
• Understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic sentences
• Ask and answer questions about personal details such as where someone lives, people you know and things you have
• Interact in a simple way
