Course Description
The course aims to equip learners with theoretical knowledge and comprehensive understanding of Hydrogen Sulphide, its properties and characteristics, safety precautions, protective equipment, detection and control measures.
 
 
Course Objectives

• List sources of H2S.
• List hazardous characteristics of H2S.
• Explain properties and characteristics of H2S.
• Determine appropriate levels of H2S in the atmosphere.
• Determine levels and limits of proper exposure.
• List and explain engineering controls over H2S.
• Calculate flare stack
• List factors affecting dispersion of H2S in the atmosphere.
• List and rationale knowledge of safety controls.
• Identify types H2S detection equipment and explain their functions, features, limitations and explain how to use them properly and timely.
• Identify H2S danger signs per color code and explain what each code indicates.
• Identify personal protective equipment (PPE), determine each of their uses, capacities, risks and ;
• Identify signs of H2S exposure in correspondence to concentration in the exposed atmosphere.
• Identify factors influencing how H2S exposure affects humans with different lifestyles.
• Identify risks of H2S exposure on organs.
• Identify examples of previous H2S exposure incidents and rationale for incidents occurrence.
• List and explain measures to be taken in order to prevent exposure to H2S.
• List and explain measures to be taken in order to control the situation after exposure to H2S
• Form a well-structured contingency plan.
• Identify procedures and steps to be undertaken immediately after exposure to H2S.
